ISPO Canada at RehabWeek 2019 — Toronto, ON — June 25-26, 2019

This document provides detailed instructions on submitting your work as one of the following types of abstracts to be presented at the ISPO – RehabWeek 2019 Conference:
- Research
- Clinical Innovation
1. OVERVIEW
All submissions for the ISPO – RehabWeek 2019 will be reviewed by judges who are experts in the field. Accepted abstracts will be presented at the conference and published in the conference proceedings, which will be made available online.
Presentations
Authors of accepted abstracts will be expected to present their work during open paper presentations on June 25 or 26 as a part of the ISPO – RehabWeek 2019 conference. Authors of accepted poster presentations will have their poster featured in the main exhibit areas on June 25 or 26. Additional information on presentation formats is provided in Section 7, below.
2. SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submit abstracts online via the ISPO Canada – RehabWeek 2019 Submission Portal at no later than 11:59PM PST on Monday, March 4.
3. TYPES OF ABSTRACTS
Authors must classify their papers as one of the following types:
- Podium Presentation
- Poster
- Poster or Podium Presentation
- Student Poster Competition
4. TOPIC AREAS
ISPO Canada at Rehabweek will be open to anything in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. Some examples of topics that would be considered include lower limb orthoses, wheelchair and seating, robotic devices, and exoskeletons.
5. REVIEW CRITERIA
Each paper will be reviewed according to the criteria for a research presentation – i.e., background, methods, results, and discussion/conclusion.
6. NOTIFICATION
Once you submit your abstract, a review period will follow. The Reviewing Committee will choose abstracts and inform those chosen within a 1-month period (i.e., by April 1st).
7. FORMATTING YOUR ABSTRACT
Abstract Structure and General Style Guidelines:
For research abstracts, the following headings are strongly encouraged:
- Background
- Methods
- Results
- Discussion/Conclusion
For clinical innovation abstracts, please use the following headings:
- Background
- Description of Case/Approach/Technology
- Outcomes
- Implications for Practice
PLEASE NOTE: You will also be required to paste your abstract into the system. Your abstract cannot exceed 2000 characters with spaces (~300 words).
Naming your Files: All files should be submitted in an editable format (.doc or .docx), rather than a PDF. Please name your files using the title of your abstract.
8. SUBMITTING YOUR ABSTRACT
Papers must be submitted via the online system no later than Monday, March 4, 2018 [11:59PM PST]. Click here submit your paper.
Once you’ve submitted your abstract, you will have the option to send yourself a confirmation email message from the “Submission Successfully Saved” screen. This is the only confirmation message you will receive, as the system does not automatically send one.

Submission Accommodation
If you are unable to utilize the online process due to disability-related reasons, you can submit your paper and supporting files by email to: [ispocanada@gmail.com] with the subject line “[ISPO / RehabWeek 2019].” Please include the title of the abstract and the submitting authors’ last name in the body of the email message.

9. FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Who can submit to the ISPO @ RehabWeek 2019 Conference?
A: Any individual or group can submit a paper.
Q: I’m confused by the Topic Areas and not sure where my proposal fits.
A: Select the Topic Area “Other” and the program committee will confirm the category for your paper.
Q: Should I submit BOTH an electronic and hard (paper) copy of the abstract?
A: No hard copies, please. The electronic format is mandatory. If it is saved correctly in .doc or .docx format, and each file is no larger than 5 MB, there should be no problems.
Q: I am unable to utilize the online system. What do I do?
A: If you have technical difficulties, please contact the ISPO Canada / RehabWeek at [ispocanada@gmail.com] with subject line “ISPO / RehabWeek 2019.”
Q: If my abstract is accepted, I understand that I will be invited to present it at the ISPO / RehabWeek Conference. Will I need to register and pay to attend the conference?
A: Yes. If an author wants to attend conference workshops, plenary sessions and receptions, they must register and pay applicable registration fees.
Q: If my abstract is selected and we have multiple authors, who can attend and/or present the paper?
A: At least one author from each accepted abstract must be at the conference to present the paper during the poster presentation. Any/all additional authors are welcome to attend the conference by registering and paying applicable fees. There is no limit to the number of authors who present the abstract at poster sessions.
